Tsui means heart in the native Ga language of Accra; sumo means love. Held the Saturday closest to Valentine’s Day, Tsuisumomo is a heart-healthy Val’s Day celebration.
The 2nd Annual Tsuisumomo takes place at Quarters’ Park, Darkuman this year on 14 February, Val’s Day itself. The festivities start with a 5K Race and Fun Run/Walk. Elite athletes can compete for a cash prize purse worth over Four Thousand Cedis while those who just want to show some love for their hearts can jog or walk for fun and fitness. All finishers of the 5K will receive a medal regardless of Couple from 2014 Tsuisumomotheir position, a certificate (upon request), and a raffle entry with a chance to win cash and other prizes.

5K Cash Prizes

The qualifying men’s and women’s champions of the 5K will each grab Gh¢750 with additional attractive cash prizes for other positions, including a Masters’ (40 years and over) and Children’s (15 years and under) categories.

Fitness Festival

In addition to the 5K run/walk, Tsui participants can try out other fun ways of getting their hearts pumping and fit: basketball, volleyball, Afrorobics™, step aerobics, table tennis, and salsa, among others. For the young and young-at-heart, there’s bouncy castle, rope skipping, badminton, ampé and many more activities. All registered participants can jump in and just do it, or get a little assistance from the coaches.

Free Health ScreeningFree Health Screening

This year’s Free Health Screening is the most extensive ever provided through such an event. It includes eye and dental exams, blood glucose and blood pressure, Hepatitis and ear exams as well, all provided by the care provider partners of Nationwide Mutual Health Insurance, a Presenting Sponsor.

Laughter is the best medicine

The experts say humans should laugh every day, if possible, to sustain emotional and psychic health. There will be comedy acts throughout the day to help participants and spectators alike get in their daily laughing requirement. And if you’re an aspiring comic yourself, this may be your chance to get in some practice in a welcoming and festive atmosphere.
You can take your favorite sweetheart, or maybe meet your future one, and try out some African courtship dances with the help of professional instructors. The organizers promise lots of music, dancing and fitness fun.

Topping it all off is the post-event party–it is Val’s Day after all–which will be hosted by popular DJs and graced by local artists.
